National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
As an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the majority of our grant initiatives are funded through federal dollars provided by NEH. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the new administration’s policies on federal grant spending, we find ourselves needing to take a conservative approach with our funding, including grantmaking. As a result, the Board of Directors and leadership have made the difficult decision to pause our grants program except for the Arkansas State Park Field Trip Grant and Helen T. Leigh Museum Field Trip Grant that is funded through non-federal funding.
This decision is similar to the actions we’ve taken during past government shutdowns, although we recognize that this situation is unique. We understand this pause may create uncertainty, and we acknowledge the challenges it presents to organizations, staff, volunteers, and the public who rely on our grants. Please know that this decision, though difficult, is made with the long-term strength and sustainability of HumanitiesAR in mind.
We face these challenges together, and by doing so, we can work toward a thoughtful and collaborative path forward. In addition to the communications we’ve had with many of you, we’ve created a brief survey to better understand how this disruption is impacting you and your organization. We greatly value your input and encourage you to share your feedback with us.
Thank you for your continued understanding and partnership during this time of transition. We look forward to hearing from you and finding ways to navigate this uncertainty together.
