Research Interests
- The impact of intimate partner violence on the workplace

- Pedagogical technique that enhance entrepreneurship education
Carol's research focuses on the effects of family violence on the workplace, and the mitigating effects of financial self-sufficiency. She and Anne O'Leary-Kelly recently received grants of $750,000 from the Department of Justice to study these issues. Her research has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Perspectives, and the Journal of Small Business Management.
Carol teaches courses in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and International
Management and has received teaching awards at the University of Arkansas and at the
University of Georgia. She has mentored many award-winning business plan teams and
was the founder of the student-run business, For Business' . . . S.A.K.E. (Students
Acquiring Knowledge through Enterprise). Her efforts with S.A.K.E. were recognized
by the Academy of Management and the United States Association for Small Business
and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) for innovation in entrepreneurship pedagogy.
Carol is an avid outdoorsperson and enjoys canoeing and hiking with her husband and
children in the beautiful Ozark Mountains when she is not busy attending her daughter's
soccer games
